Memory Games

Before playing these memory games, it's recommended to learn more about what the memory is and some techniques to improve it. If you have difficulty remembering new names, new faces, phone numbers, or constantly misplacing your keys, missing appointments, not remembering to pay your bills (and end up paying late fees), or forgetting your anniversary ...etc. All these issues can ruin your day and sometimes ruin your future (not when you forget paying your bills but when you forget your marriage anniversary). For most cases you don't need medication to boost your memory, all you need is some training and some techniques (you can call them tricks too). If you don't stimulate the areas responsible for storing information, those areas become lazy and don't do the job to perfection. So you may want to give these games a try. But before the memory test, it is extremely helpful to read the rest of the page first, since it contains useful information about how to improve your memory.

First we will discuss why the memory fails the first place, it seems that there are thousands of ways it could fail, but in reality there are only 3 reasons: failure to register the information, failure to retain the information, and finally failure to remember (or retrieve) the information.

So memory improvement techniques are usually dealing with these 3 failures, the process of improving it can be done with few steps that can be performed effortlessly. For example many people have trouble remembering faces. A simple technique is to examine a person's face discretely when you are introduced. Try to find an unusual feature, ears, hairline, forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, chin, complexion, etc.

Now to remember a name you can create an association between that characteristic, the face, and the name in your mind. The association may be to link the person with someone else you know with the same name or a name that sounds closer. Also you can associate a rhyme or image of the name with the person's face or defining feature. (Continued below)

More about memory

Also when you are introduced, ask for the person to repeat their name. Use the name yourself as often as possible. If it is unusual, ask how it is spelled or where it comes from, and if appropriate, exchange cards. Keep in mind that the more often you hear and see the name, the more likely it is to be retained by your brain.

The methods suggested for remembering faces and names are fairly simple and obvious, but are useful. Association either with images of a name or with other people can really help. Repetition and review help to confirm your memory.

Here is our first Memory Game that you might enjoy, it will check how good you can remember small details, it gets harder after each level, the rules of the game are very simple, there is a black screen, on each level you will see an extra dot added to the screen, your role is to spot which dot was added last and click on it. Very easy to play, but requires good memory, can you go as far as level 40? Make sure you check also the other games below.

Sometimes there is no problem with your memory, the only problem is that you're not paying "attention", the likelihood that information in your working memory will be absorbed into long-term memory depends on how intensely you pay attention. It is also recommended to widen your attention, because too much attention on one aspect can make the other aspects slip away. A new girl you just met tells you about her name, her occupation, and her phone number! It is important to spread your attention equally to all the information given to you, starting from the look and ending with the phone number.

Another thing you need to do is to retrieve the information every now and then, to ensure that you will remember it when needed most, preferably with a pause that widens each time, you can practice that with things you consider very important to remember, for example a very important account number, once you receive it, try to mentally retrieve it after 5 min, then after 15 min, after one hour, after 6 hours, after one day, after one week ... that ensures an easy retrieval of the information after a longer period.

These are some quotes that you might like:  "If you can't remember something, it's like it never happened. Likewise, if something never happened, you can't remember it. Try too hard to remember, and your memory might lie to you." ~ Kingdom Hearts.

"The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche.

"We are defined by our memories and by our past. So who are we if we have no memory and no past?" ~ Anonymous.

Now Try to play one of the following memory games , make sure you're relaxed, You might be familiar with the first game also called "simon says" it's a little bit easier and you could pass level 20 with relatively some ease, however if you scroll down more you will find a different game which is a little bit harder.

Now Try this one, make sure you're relaxed and focused, a very good score would be reaching level 9 for the game below. After pressing Go! the computer will highlight a button in yellow, try to click on it and press Go! the second level will have two buttons highlighted, you need to click on them in the order the computer highlighted them for you, and so on. Good luck!
